Water: How to Make It Drinkable

Watermelon Basis Ice Cubes in Water
Here I am, a personal trainer in Evanston, IL. Claiming to be the picture of health and stuff... But the truth is I’m not a huge fan of drinking water.

I know it’s good for me, I know it would make EVERYTHING in my body happier but… it feels like just another chore and I’m over those ;)

The fact is, though, that most of us DO need more water so here’s how to make it less of a chore and more of a treat!

So with that in mind, here is a quick recipe to glam up your water!

Recipe for Basil Watermelon Ice Cubes

Ingredients:
  • About half of a cubed watermelon (enough to fill your blender)
  • 10-12 fresh basil leaves
  • Fresh lime or lemon juice (optional)
Instructions:
  1. Prepare your watermelon like a pro*! Peel off that rind and cut into cubes
  2. Get ready to meet our green superstar: fresh basil leaves. Give them a gentle wash; no need to pat dry
  3. Blend the watermelon chunks and basil leaves until they're super smoothe
  4. Now it's time to fill your ice cube tray. Pour the watermelon basil puree into the tray, filling each compartment about three-quarters full. Leave a little space at the top to allow for expansion when freezing
  5. Cover the tray and carefully transfer to the freezer and let it freeze for at least 4-6 hours or until solid. Let the magic happen in the freezer. Cue the applause!
  6. Once froze, drop 1-2 of these watermelon basil ice cubes into a glass of water or any beverage of your choice. Watch them melt away, infusing your drink with the flavors of summer. It's paradise in a glass!
  7. Share the love and tag your friends who need a taste of this delicious goodness

So try this out and let me know if it affected how much water you consumed!
