Beth isn't just kicking butt with her training, though. She participated in CleanSlate28 this past spring which allowed her to focus more on her nutrition habits which, as she talks about below, have made a huge impact on her blood sugar levels. THAT is what it's all about!
She is one awesome woman I am honored to have as a client so without further ado, I give you Beth!
To gain strength and confidence. I had been having a number of mostly minor back and hip issues and I wanted to be able to sustain my mobility and activity level. I turned 60 this year and I wanted to be the best 60 I could be.
How do you think your sessions have helped you out?
I have gained the strength and confidence I was looking for. Thanks to Izzy’s lifestyle challenges, I have also focused more on diet and both my weight and overall wellbeing seem more on track.
What do you enjoy most about training?
I like Izzy’s positive feedback and progressively challenging programs. I like the feeling of accomplishment when I am finished!
Is there anything surprising that you've discovered with strength training?
I am surprised that challenges such as deadlifts and Turkish getup are possible for me.
Do you have any fitness goals for this year?
I would like to train more often, keep my activity, fitness, and weight on track. I would like to be able to lift more weight and feel secure and stable doing it.
How would you describe your philosophy on working out and nutrition?
I was a dancer when I was younger and practiced Aikido after that. I have been doing yoga for over 25 years and in addition to training, I walk everyday, bike and take the occasional Zumba class. I like to keep moving and stay in shape. I am diabetic, so watching my diet is essential. Keeping sugar, gluten and dairy in check as well as minimizing processed foods has made a huge difference in keeping my blood sugar balanced and my digestion on an even keel.
What advice would you have for anyone just starting out?
Exercise and diet go hand and hand in developing a healthy lifestyle. Just training once a week is not enough to really make changes. A full commitment is necessary otherwise it is a waste of time and money.
