![]() Nancy came to IzzyFit close to a year ago and I have to say, the physical strides she's made have been really cool, which is why she's the February Client of the Month! When we started, Nancy was rehabbing a shoulder and ankle, unable to put any load onto her upper body or do much in terms of hopping/jumping/running. Balance was another struggle for Nancy, who had also recently taken a bad fall. With a lot of care and careful programming between myself and Nancy's other trainer, she is now able to hold a pushup plank on the floor, do some light running and hopping around and, though balance is something that always needs to be worked on, Nancy is MUCH less trepidatious now than she was before. When we get hurt or sick, we tend to protect the body to the point where it can inhibit progress and healing. Other than the physical gains, I am the most proud of Nancy for trusting her body and pushing through some fears she had associated with her prior injuries in order to move forward with her fitness and health. So without further ado: Meet Nancy! Please tell me about yourself.
My name is Nancy, I'm 52, mother of 2, reader, gardener, cook, health freak, yin yoga enthusiast, lover of all things NYC. What were your initial goals when you started training? My initial goals were strength training and balance (I am prone to falling) and weight loss. How do you think your sessions have helped you? My sessions have helped with all of the above. What I didn't expect has been the increase in my energy. What have you enjoyed most about your training? What I've enjoyed most about my training is being able to feel good as my body has been going through mid-life changes. Do you have any fitness goals for 2014? My fitness goals are to keep doing what i'm doing at the gym and add more daily yin yoga for flexibiliity to my routine. How would you describe your philosophy about exercise and nutrition? I'm a huge believer in nutrition and nourishing foods. Giving up gluten and most sugar has helped me tremendously with my fitness goals. You can't have exercise without eating right, at least at this stage of the game!
