CleanSlate28: Spring Cleaning is designed to help you feel confident shedding your winter sweater for the spring and summer. CS28 is a guided 28-day program that puts you in the driver's seat of your health. Why not adopt some habits now that will help you frolic on the beach with an extra shimmy in your strut in the months to come? The focus of these 28 days will be to learn how to create and follow habits that help you reach your goals -- habits that you can ultimately continue to practice beyond reaching your goals without feeling deprived and like you're missing out on life.
Through the Spring Cleaning Edition, which starts on Monday, February 29 and ends Sunday, March 27 you will:
Work on one new habit every week that addresses the biggest pits we may have fallen into this winter. The four habits you will practice over the four weeks are: Reduce added sugars; add more vegetables to your day; reduce processed carbs (like bread, pasta, cookies); reduce calorie-containing beverages (like coffee drinks, alcohol).
Participate in Facebook group check-ins a few times per week;
Do something active for at least 30 minutes three times per week;
Have the option to extend your nutrition coaching for an extra four weeks at the end of the initial 28 days;
Become part of a community of individuals who also take their health seriously and want to make similar changes in their lives.
Through CS28: Spring Break, you will also get:
Weekly do-anywhere workout videos emailed to you that you can do at home or at the gym;
A private Facebook group so you can be part of the CS28 community;
A manual with lots of recipes, tips and more!
You will track your nutrition, exercise and lifestyle habits daily in a handy-dandy tracker provided to you by IzzyFit to earn badges! You can earn points for checking in with the group during the week! The person (or people) with the most points at the end of CS28: Spring Break will win something nifty!
Change your focus from "losing weight" or "getting fit" to concretely making the necessary life changes that will stick with you long-term to help you be the best version of YOU that you can be. So: LET'S DO THIS!

FAQ #1: Is this a detox? Nope! While you'll be reducing your sugar, alcohol/soda/latte and processed carb intake during the 28 days which will likely help you feel super fabulous, this program is more about allowing you to hit the brakes on your most frustrating nutritional habits as well as encouraging you to add some really good habits in (like eating your veggies)! Ultimately, you'll learn how to plan for success instead of winging it.
FAQ #2: I live in SomewhereThatIsn'tTheChicagoArea. Can I still participate? YEP! CleanSate28 alums have come from LA, Seattle, Ohio and Philly, to name a few places!
FAQ #3: About those nutrition guidelines: What foods do I have to take out? That's up to you. Notice that above I did not say "eliminate" but "reduce". How much you reduce added sugars, processed carbs and caloric beverages is up to you and I will help you figure that all out.
FAQ #4: What if I have a wedding/birthday party/trip to Italy during the time of CleanSlate28? Perfection is not the ultimate goal. Learning how to plan and live daily life (INCLUDING special occasions) with the most optimal habits is. The focus is all about making better choices, one at a time. Do not let a special occasion deter you from making a change. There will never be a perfect time to start a program like this so the best thing to do is jump on board!
FAQ #5: What about exercise? You will be expected to do something active at least 3 times per week for 30 minutes. If you do not personally work out with IzzyFit 3 times per week, worry not! One video will be posted weekly with a new program that you can do at home or at the gym. Other active options are walking, swimming, dancing, etc.
FAQ #6: What if I don't want to stop after the 28th day? Everyone will have the option of extending their coaching by another 4 weeks! There, we'll continue working on the habits you adopted in the previous 4 weeks, work on a few new ones and continue chugging along as you get closer and closer to your goal.
FAQ #7: How do you determine a winner? Since community is such a large part of our success and concordance, everyone will check into the Private Facebook Group a few times per week. Points will be given to those who check in. It's that easy to win!
In the past, points were given based on how well the individual adhered to their program. I decided to change that since making some of these new habit changes can be a roller coaster; it's just part of the journey. When we run into difficulty adhering to something it's usually a sign that either the adopted habit is too rigid and/or something is going on in the individual's life (stress, work, life, etc). Participants will still track their days and hand in their sheets for a chance to win badges instead!
FAQ #8: After I sign up, what happens? Once you’ve signed up, you will be invited to join a private Facebook group. You will get a PDF of the CleanSlate28 manual on about a week before the program starts so you can start to prepare. I urge you to read through the entire thing in advance of the start date.
There are sample meal plans in the manual and loads of recipes. Print out the blank meal plan sheet and get cracking with some meal ideas of your own. Planning is everything. If you have questions about your meal plans as you make them, email them to me and I’ll take a look.
